18U Tier 1 Nationals Beat Tillsonburg in 9th
After scoring four early runs against Tillsonburg on Thursday night the 18U tier 1 lads needed a big top of the 9th inning to pull out a well earned 7-5 victory..

With the host Otters up 5-4 entering the 9th inning Cam Daigle led of with a walk and after stealing second base Jack Whitehead launched a missile over the centre fielder's head for a game tying double. Consecutive singles from Carter Musselman and David Hynd led to two additional runs giving the Nats a two run leading going into the bottom of the 9th.
After surrendering a lead off double, Owen Duiker retired the next three in order to preserve the victory. In all Duiker pitched four innings facing one batter over the minimum in what was an exceptional mound effort. Combined Duiker and starter Carter Musselman allowed just three earned runs on seven hits while striking out nine. Daigle and Ethan Boersma added hits for the winners while Isaac Deline and Owen Akey were strong defensively.
The next few weeks get busy for the Nats with 10 games scheduled over the next 13 days, their next home tilt being Thursday July 29 versus Brantford at the Stadium. First pitch 7:30pm.
