18U tier 1 Begin League Play
Finally the Covid 19 pandemic has subsided enough for some baseball to be played and after a slow start the 18U tier 1 Nationals are beginning to round into form...

Last Friday at SERC the Nats saw a 6-2 lead over Tillsonburg disappear, eventually losing 10-7 in extra innings.
Jack Whitehead had a double and five RBI for the home side while Jacob Hall also doubled and scored twice. Carter Musselman and Ethan Boersma had two hits each while David Hynd had a double and Tallyn Soper singled. On the hill Evan Heinbuch, Nole Musselman, Spencer Eidt, Isaac Deline and Carter Musselman combined to allow nine hits and eight earned runs while striking out 10.
Sunday in Hamilton again saw a Nats lead disappear late as the Cardinals used two 9th inning runs to walk off the visitors 3-2. Six different Nats had hits in the one; Whitehead, Nathan Graff, Carter Musselman, Nole Musselman, Eidt and Hynd.  Hynd knocked in both Stratford runs. On the mound Cam Daigle and Boesrma gave up seven hits and two earned runs while striking out nine. The Nationals showed some stellar defense in this one with Graff and Carter Musselman turning a 4-6-3 inning ending double play, Daigle picking off two runners and Soper throwing out three runners attempting to steal a bag.
Tuesday in Cambridge the Stratford bats broke out in a 16-5 Nats victory. Graff, Carter Musselman, Hynd, Boersma, Owen Duiker, Heinbuch and Hall all had two hits. Deline scored three times while Graff, Duiker, Heinbuch and Daigle scored twice. Hynd added three more RBI to his early season binge and Boersma and Hall had two each. Heinbuch and Owen Akey gave up three earned runs while scattering seven Cub base hits.
The Nationals next home game is Thursday July 29 versus Brantford.
